What is your personal motto or favorite quotation?

View 500 Answers

"The word is 'quotations', damnit."
–Carly, in response to Facebook's "favorite quotes [sic]" section.

(On another note, kudos to LJ.)

EDIT: I rescind all previously offered kudos; turns out, the automatic tags for this writer's block included… "quotes". And I don't think they meant the punctuation.

Then I realise that I get twenty feet and can't bring myself to move. Active imaginations just don't mix with well-designed survival-horror.

Yay for Silent Hill gatherings with a designated player?

Kent and I visited Mau breeders in Orange County yesterday. They were… well, you would know they were cat breeders.

  1. Avoid passive sentences.
  2. Avoid verbosity.
  3. Avoid over-abundant words (i.e., 'show', 'use', 'to be', 'I', etc.)
  4. Organise by logical relation, not by thesis.
  5. Analyse; do not summarise.
  6. Resolve: Explain the meaning/implication of analyses.
  7. Vary sentence structure.
  8. Begin with a detail; expand to thesis (if one is present).
  9. No, a thesis is not always vital. (But it almost always is.)

As Kent pointed out, before the advent of YouTube, these would have been in film cannisters in someone's closet, never to be seen by the masses. And before the advent of Vixy, they wouldn't have been on my iPod.

Watch them; I promise they are much more spectacular than one would think for the first fifteen to thirty seconds.

I slapped some stolen CSS on my livejournal to make it pretty.

Don't worry if you can't see your lj_controlstrip; I hid it on purpose. Use the goddamned navigation strip.

And don't try looking at it with Safari. Firefox(/Flock) is, as per usual, superior. Microsoft's antitrust-suit-worthy browser will probably work too.

I've been reading through T-Shirt Hell's newsletters, which include samples of the hate mail the company receives. The topics are split approximately 20/80: either the writer makes some incoherent statement (possibly in support of the company – we'll never know, since in all probability the senders of those statements have drowned in one of their own bodily fluids*) or he (or she – women can be cretins too) proclaims T-Shirt Hell the sole/a perfect example of a corrupter of America/the world, the reason for the War on Terrorism/crappy economy/persecution of [insert minority here], and bearer of responsibility for the moral decay of society/perversion of our youth.

Normally I'd move on after feeling a pang of regret that I'm breathing air many of these people once breathed. These people, however, are particularly aggravating because so many of them write this letter:

generalised by me )

Hypocrites. I want to tear out their eyes and feed them their own livers. Now, I bring this up for three (major) reasons: these – let's call them people – people are on the mailing list, meaning they're asking for it in as literal and clear a way as possible without stealing the shirts; the people invariably liked the shirts making fun of other groups, but once they came across one directed at them, they suddenly couldn't comprehend (among other things) the makers' gall; and they are usually using gratuitous profanity in their protests against intolerance/immorality – how very Christian of them.

Also, faggot has an 'o'. The only acceptable orthographic variation is 'fagot'. Yes, I advocate in all seriousness the censorship of those without at least a basic grasp of grammar and spelling (you don't even need a particularly extensive vocabulary).

End.

spawn these miniatures of themselves. The little things are the size of a mace's head.

And they make a very satisfying squish when you hit them.

Um. YouTube has given me a new favorite gay song (well, it's still contending with "Fer Sure")

In any case, oh dear… )

In other news, Flock is my new browser.

Flock, Adium, Azureus… I see no need for any other internet application (other than Gametap, if it were to support Windows games on Mac).

Oh, and Bush has given his last State of the Union Address! At last this nightmare draws nigh its end.

… Now I'm just waiting for the next disaster (please, not Huckabee, please).

I'm in Santa Barbara.

55ºF, no heat, and I'm toasty.

God I hate Yubafuck.

By the way, I'm a Woodite now.

Yes. I'm totally serious.

Sorry it took so long, Kit.

1. Put Your iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc on shuffle
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS.
4. Put any comments in brackets after the song name.
5. Tag some lucky people to spread the disease.

By the way, I saw Sweeney Todd on Friday.

A lot of the Anthony and Johanna sub-plot was cut. It was disappointing if only for Johanna's line after planning her elopement, "I loved you even as I saw you, even as it does not matter that I still don't know your name, sir," being cut.

Aside from that, I approve. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are getting quite good at playing opposite one another, and both made satisfactory characters individually.

And Tim Burton still has yet to let me down.

+ Got 1/8" elastics today…
– Can open my mouth just about 1/8"
+ Getting my hair cut
+ Probably getting impressions tomorrow
+ Meaning probably getting the positioner Monday or Wednesday
0 LING 20A grade still not up on GOLD
– Summer grades still on GOLD

Mm. +2. A nice day.

Mind you, there's room for more happenings, considering it's only 12.30.

I'm hoping Brittany and/or Carly can go to Santa Barbara with me.

Ryan is finally working on his Angels musical.

Hmm now would probably be a good time to ask Ryan if the play is titled yet. (Is it?)

Anyhow, I'm proud of him and excited to hear a more finished version of "Flying on Angels' Wings".

In actual Spencer-news: I may be returning to Santa Barbara on the 27th, but chances are increasing it will be the 28th or 29th. I just want my damn positioner.

+ Watched Cube Zero – the prequel to Cube – this morning.
+ Also watched Dark Harbor (that was actually a good movie, not just a trashy indulgence).
+ Got hair and ortho appointments for tomorrow.
+ Finally talked to Kent. (I love that boy.)
+ For half an hour.

+5 … today left me with a warm, melty feeling in my chest

Does anyone else notice that what qualifies as ±1 depends on the magnitude of the rest of the day?

And just to reinforce my gayness (gaiety?): There's no new episode of Project Runway tonight! ;-; How could Bravo do this to me?! (Oh yes, it's a personal attack on me. No one else is important enough for Bravo to interrupt its schedule.</virony>)

I just read my last entry.

On one note, I still have no idea what my password is for this; on another, the gap was under two months this time (w37t)!

Like Brittany, I'm disappointed not to be going to the city. At least I'll be seeing three of my favorite people next week. I also may be getting my braces off. I certainly hope I am, simply for the sake of flossing (which, let's be honest, I haven't done but four times in the last year).

/X\::/X\

I think I'm going to be logging my days on here from now on. It's not so much a social thing as a self-evaluation thing.

… Yeah, those are going to be friend-only entries.

Graduated.

At UCSB.

Don't know why I come back to this every once in a great while.

I don't really know anyone here (except Krystal, and she's as bad as I am.)

Well, now that I'm in this new circle of Hell, I think I'll be posting more often.

/X\::/X\

So, pretty much UCSB royally sucks, and I can't figure out why. My roommate's fine; there are plenty of nice people, including Ryan, an RA who is pretty all-around amazing with the Japanese-ness and music-ness and cooking-ness.

I also found myself a boyfriend, which is funny, considering it happened just when I wasn't looking for one; at any rate, I'm cetainly not complaining.

So, I'm pretty much drowning in depression during times like this when I'm stuck here and not doing my reading for class… That reminds me, class schedule:

Later.

xx
